Any signs of it slowing down or are all the deer just dead?

My deer are all dead now ... I may have one deer that drifts thru from time to time but that's it ..
I see one set of tracks , but have not seen the deer .

DEC game warden said that they are fishing them out of the Ashokan reservoir also ..

How are they doing by you Ron , still good healthy deer population?
I understand they are still seeing good deer numbers in your area .

muskrat .... ill throw in my 2 cents from last year .... having never experienced a die off like ehd b4 i started hunting 1 October as if it was business as usual even though my cameras were saying otherwise and as the time passed in the stand it was obvious my woods were dead .... i think the largest number of deer together i saw all bow season was 2. As time went on I tried to change my plan and hunted other areas that i usually gun hunt and the deer population historically isn't very high ... i went from 3m to 3 p .... i probably did it too late and ended up not harvesting anything during bow season or gun season or late season ..... so if u have other areas id jump and take a look early ..... this year i see an increase in deer surprisingly (as of this weekend havent found EHD again) but the bucks are all young ... theres 1 very big 6 point and now i scratch my head to pass him up like i did b4 EHD hit only to have all those bucks killed anyway or do i harvest him if i get a chance ...... either way good luck to you

Good advice Grazan , I've been talking to people in some of my old areas ..
Trying to find a group of deer , not so infected... Lady told me today , that she still
Has some deer around , but nowhere near what it was other years...

Hard call on that 6 , but good luck if you decide to take him..

Seems like there are small patches of healthy deer , in or close by the infected areas ,don't know how's that possible but appears to be ...

I have found pockets, of decent deer populations in areas that have otherwise been decimated. Also, some nice bucks have somehow managed to survive, where everything else died. I thought they didn’t make it last year, but found them again. It will pay off to do a good amount of moving around to see where there are survivors.

It’s a tough call, because it’s hard to give up on an area, that you like to hunt, and it only takes one deer to make the season.

I haven't got my license and still not sure I will might just fish instead.  I finally got a few deer on camera at house 3 does and a spike still in velvet as of a few days ago. Unfortunately a new dead deer is in my next door neighbors pond last weekend.

This is an exact replay of last year but don’t see anyone saying they went out and scouted or got a new place to hunt we have thousands of public acres get out and scout

Again as Ron said Ken if your not seeing what’s happening here you really don’t understand what’s going on I have wheels and legs I will certainly do my best to harvest a mature buck I refuse to purchase a dmp tag this year to give this state more money in the conservation fund to buy land they put so many restrictions on look how they screwed the towns in the ADKs on some connection trails for snowmobiling

I know one thing for sure you guys are doing exactly what the guys hit with ehd did last season complain but not relocate yes we prefer to hunt our little corner of the woods but next year it will be you saying I didn’t fill a tag as some have said about last season you make you own decisions I would have found another place to hunt as soon as I knew it was in my area and also I haven’t said anything that wasn’t true I have killed at least 100 deer spent my entire life crawling on the ground learning more about them than those who just go sit in a tree i call them with my mouth not a store bought call well sometimes lol I know what I know i am a year round in the woods hunter for many things get mad at me if you want but I only hunt where deer are it just makes sense

In all seriousness if I were the sole owner of our property the answer would be yes all i am saying is if you don’t make an effort to find another spot you can only blame yourself for empty freezers yes what’s happening sucks but don’t get mad at me for giving good advice that you refused to take just as last year go back and read all of this same thing
