I talked to a guy today that found one in a pond in Kingston, he called DEC, they couldn’t be bothered…truth be known, dec only cares about licensing revenue and could care less about field work and actual deer population.
Another guy I work with had a zombie deer drooling and a swollen face, he called dec and they told him it probably has a impacted tooth. Unbelievable, that deer had EHD… I also found four other dead ones in his general area.

Just my opinion I believe this was a planned event to manage our deer population I understand this is a common virus deer get but however it’s usually occurs  in drought conditions which really hasn’t been the case this year with record precipitation this summer and never in continuous years and the response you get when reporting cases it’s like there reading you a script from a car manufacturer

Apparently it is in Oswego county, here’s a screenshot from Facebook. The author had Cornell university test them, they came back positive for EHD.

My woods are absolutely dead... not seeing any signs of life. I put cameras out to see if anything still alive. It's been weeks and I've only seen 2 deer alive in Hurley😥

also very sorry to hear that ..... its hard to believe that NY working with CORNELL https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/about/press/pr2021/effort-launches-vaccinate-raccoons-against-rabies.page can put out something to vaccinate raccoons from rabies but cant fly over and spray something to kill midges in Heavily hit areas to knock it down some .... obviously now its too late ... when i was a kid something was always flying over spraying to kill something .....

You would think , in these hard hit areas , the DEC would at least stop handing out doe tags !!!
I was given this DEC phone number   845-256-3098  and urged to call to express my concern
About the use of doe tags in these areas ...you can leave a message

congrats o0n the picture ...

concerning the DEc and doe permits in hit areas .... i urge everyone to contact them but want show u their answer to me and others (posted on another discussion here)  who expressed the same concern for the areas hit last year and including them in the early doe hunt last week:

They didn’t care about my comments …… and their answer shows me their ignorance on the negative affects of EHD and how they marginalize it buy calling it "localized" ... i hope others experiencing EHD this year doesn't get the same "helping hand" from the NY DEC ......

https://dos.ny.gov/system/files/documents/2021/09/090121.pdf

“. A few writers objected to inclusion of WMU 3M due to deer mortality from Epizootic Hemorrhagic Disease (EHD) in that unit in 2020.”

“WMU 3M did experience some localized deer mortality from EHD in 2020, but subsequent deer harvest patterns suggest the disease did not ap[1]pear to substantially affect the unit’s overall deer population. The manage[1]ment objective for 3M is to reduce the population. For that to occur, ad[1]ditional antlerless harvest is necessary.”
