Boating shutdown????
« on: April 09, 2020, 04:05:49 PM »
I see Cuomo deemed all marinas and recreational boat launches non essential. Does anyone know if this affects reservoir boating? I'm guessing all car top launching at lakes and ponds is also closed? Just saw an article written yesterday that the state was putting ramps in throughout the state preparing for open water season , this is confusing to say the least...

At the end of the day the waters and woods are just as essential as a grocery store so whether you're catching fish or hunting game by boat or land that's how many ppl get their dinner so I don't see how they can stop fisherman regardless of how they fish.

Reservoir rowboats aren't at "boat launches" so this doesn't appear to apply to them. NYC DEP website last update on virus for recreational users was on March 23rd; boat offices closed until further notice but DEP's land and water areas open for recreation.

And I was going up to Saratoga today to look at a few small boats for my son and I to fish from this Striper season. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Public launches will still be open they just won't be manning them to pay fees.

Everybody needs to send a Email, text, what ever to DEC, your assemblymen, Legislators, Senators to get this BS changed!
Make other rules if needed, but I am tired of some Aholes in NYC deciding things they have no clue about.
Eddyville bridge will be packed but that will be OK. Me and my wife sitting in a boat not near anyone is wrong?
Some trails are open with parking lots full and people near each other, but that's OK. (Bad example, not all and I have nothing against trail users, I do to)
Write All....I did.
Yep...just came past 213 Eddyville. Pull off had 8 people having a party and fishing.

Every trail is open with parking lots full and people near each other, but that's OK.

This is actually not true. Many trails have been closed, and I'm sure more will be. I do however agree that closing boat ramps and marinas is ridiculous. Being out in the middle of the river, alone or with family, is certainly distance enough to be safe.

Your correct, that was a bad example. I'm just angry.
