I'm confused . . . this link was posted on April 7th by the DEC just TWO DAYS before the notice Gino posted!!! I asked 1 detective, 1 local policeman and the DEC what would happen if I was caught  in the river fishing in my boat ALONE . . .nobody had a concrete answer for me . Restricting boating will only make the public access areas along the river more conjested, which is already happening at a park in my area. There is NO WAY they are 6 feet apart!!!

I agree ziffy....   Ridiculous...  I talked to DEC officer today and he said that if you are in compliance with social distancing the only reason they are coming to your boat is to check your fishing licenses...   Some marinas are telling people to get the boats out and some marinas are not giving a oooo.... some launches are open some are not...   Very confusing...  WTF is going on........... ????

Very confusing for sure. Read the article in the freeman about Saugerties PD and the marina there.....problem is people are calling local PDs and complaining about non essential business being open.  I agree some places shouldn’t be violating....but...smokers choice in Kingston was open, someone called it in and upon inspection they had one shelf with newt placed canned good and cereal on it.....manager / owners advised that they are essential because they have some food there which is bs....i don’t see the harm in the marina closing but allowing boaters to get out of the truck, go to the boat and away they go.....
Oh Yeah !

The way I interpret this is that boating alone with family members should be ok. The issue is where you would launch from, or the marina that you pay to keep your boat at. All marinas and public launches is what Cuomo now considers non essential and he shut them down on 4/9. So any private launch not at a marina, or private docks should be good to go IMO

As of this afternoon, the town boat launches by me we’re still open from what I could see. Who knows what tomorrow will bring. Like Wem stated, it’s going to be people calling it in to officials that will shut things down. Such a stupid decision.

i guess they should start pulling cars over with more them one person in it. know way to be 6' from your passenger.. Ziff you could fish with another person i wouldn't worry about 2 people in a boat. Lots of laws suits will be going on when this crap is over.

Whether marina is essential or not makes zero sense...  If you drive down to marina and walk to your boat and get in what is the difference in going to public launch???

I wouldn’t suggest telling a cop to suck a fat one. Unless of course he’s a close friend of yours 😂 Just play dumb and act like you have not heard of such a thing. They’ll most likely issue you a warning first. This is going to get real interesting.

Keep us posted if you hear of anything out there. Stay safe everyone

It is going to get bad in dutchess county because almost all of the shore access from hyde park, staatsburg is on state park land.Anything in Poughkeepsie and Rhinebeck and anything north will be packed with folks. >:( We are not going to be able to access the river unless we break the law and drive down the railroad tracks.

Poughkeepsie is open for now but only 4 trailor spots but you could have someone launch you and park some where else and pick you up later but also I don’t expect docks to be put in
