Anytime from now to September been a while since I did it but my best spots were the old love oil tank south of Poughkeepsie before they stopped people from going there and the old draw bridge in wappenger  now you almost need a boat always used sunfish for bait

We used to catch blue crabs , right in the rondout creek..
Used chicken wings in our crab traps , tied to the docks at a local marina next to the junk yard ..
I always heard that sunfish is a good bait also , but never tried them
Now , you got me wanting to try it again..
They where good eating!

I don't get up at 4 AM to play catch and release .

Imo better tasting than lobster
