i've been out twice and seeing more bear sign than last season and more acorns/beech.  I am going to scout/still hunt more this weekend to find a good spot to sit for the remaining evenings I can get out

I might take a walk up in the mountains this weekend.  More about just getting out than putting one on the ground right now.  It's still a little too warm for me to shoot a bear, especially with having to drag a few hours to get it out.

It is unfortunate that the early season works out to sept when it is still usually warm.  For that reason I plan my hunts on slopes facing the road to minimize potential of a long drag.  That and last few years I call a week before the season to make sure butcher good to go in case I need to call late in the evening that I am coming with a bear for the fridge

I am by no means a Black Bear expert ... but all the ones I've seen have been during bow season when its warm ..... very rarely seen any in November or later ..... once owner of THE BEAR HUNTING MAGAZINE and now BEAR GREASE podcast Clay Newcomb prefers warm weather hunting black bear https://youtu.be/zmyaukYCf5g  go figure
