Another one caught some #5 shot this am about 9.75 “ beard 1.5” hooks on em
Came in right off roost, I was asked to take my father friends, friend hunting, and do the calling for him when we got to the place he said I can call for my self I said ok what u want me to do he, he said go down the ridge about 200 yards, I said we would both be working same bird. He said he was ok with that let’s see who calls better, if u see him shoot him.
So I walked out the ridge positioning the bird, between us on the ledge above
And in my mind said if he flys right I’ll let Kevin call if he comes left he is mine
Let out a call he gobbled right away as he also does for Kevin’s first call, I made two more calls bothe he answered to, well Kevin was calling constantly with a random responce, at about 5:45 I hear flapping and see the Tom land 50 yards away up hill to my left but on other side of stone wall, which I was sitting against
I did not make a call and he v lined it for the opening I was sitting at I shot him at about 10’  away and did not know if he was a shooter until he appeared in the stone wall opening at which time he did not go much further
Great season now I can start running some set up for a few of the local youths that are hoping to connect

Now that sound like Some good ole fashioned fun right there lol....separate and see who calls better.  I absolutely love it lol........ I got a cousin and and uncle that think they are the turkey masters....I’m gonna have to  offer the challenge sometime. Lol. Congrats on a nice bird.

Thanks guys love the SX4 pulled trigger twice, no flopping, just straight down in a heap.  Worked a bunch of jakes and a really nice top to about 80yards for a buddy this am on his property.  But we had a bad set up I did not k ow the land and he placed us with a swamp between us and the roost birds flew down and displayed for last two hrs on the edge of the swamp.  I asked him why we set up there he said last time he was there it was a trickle lol mud and water over my knee high muck boots, no way a turkey was crossin that

Number 2 for me, run and gun after a sunrise without any action.  Popped over to another piece of property and struck a few up.  They would cross the thick hedgerow but that hedgerow provided enough coverage for me to slip into position.
