Good luck. I hear you about getting out of NY altogether. I’m a Dutchess County resident too. My youngest is off to college this September and she has plans for Medical school. So that gives me about another 10 years here. After that “I’m outta here”!!

Good luck, I’m looking forward to getting out at some point also.  Two of my close friends already left, both born & raised near here, they hate what this state has become. Both of these guys worked their whole life, paid off their mortgages and looked forward to retiring. In the end, they sold their homes, took their money and their retirement checks and left the state.

Hope you find something you like!

I'm originally from Marlboro, I made the move 32 years ago. When ever I visit my old stomping grounds, no regrets making the move!

Best of luck to you, sir.

Hell why bother with Tioga co. ,it's still NYS, ssdd. Personally my wife and I are are heading to Tennessee April 3 to look at a couple houses and employment prospects. My son moved out of NYS shortly after graduating college, due to no work here. He lives in NC now and loves it, says he never realized the little things that lets him live a freer life. Good luck and God bless

Gotta ya. I have a few friends in that situation. My daughter won't graduate college here until December, but I can't afford to wait that long. Every year we're losing money here in obscene property taxes. Told my wife that after living in our house for 30 years, getting married in the back yard , raising a family here, I have as much attachment for this place as I do a budget 8 motel room on the Jersey turnpike. Again good luck, and hope it works out for you and yours.

My job is Union 20 years in but not worth putting up with crap anymore taking a big cut in pay but sometimes you have to choose being happy over money
