Guys, you can use a chart like this to age a deer yourself, and come very close. At the very least you'll know the difference between a 2 1/2 year old and a fully mature deer It's very easy once you know what to look for.

Good morning High Peak Drifter;

Your buck appears to be a 2/ /5  year old.   Note the small amount of of wear on the first molar.  At 3 and 1/2 it will show more wear on the first molar.

Save your lower jaw bone if you can,   I will be doing dear aging classes in late september .  ( bring your jaw bones)

Congtratulations !

You are Welcome High Peak Drifter.

I will in all liklihood be doing one or more Dear Aging Classes in the fall.

If you can, save the lower jawbone and bring it to the class (I havent picked a location yet)

My Deer aging classes take about two hours or so.  You also get to keep a slick life size handout that I have put togather.

Any questions.... Give me a call (Dick Henry ) (Eight Four Five, Six Aight Seven Four/Three Four)

It looks like 2.5 to me....I wish Mr Henry would chime in. I also would like to say I wish I had half the experience that Mr Henry has, but based on the charts and info I am comparing your picture with, looks like 2.5
Matt, if that's from your buck that's almost hard to believe,  but I have seen some others that Mr Henry aged that were surprising.

I agree, definitely no older than 3.5, Having hard time wrapping head around 2.5, But That would be pretty Neat though. Must of been carrying some great genetics.

thanks and congratulations on your deer as well!

Thanks Brian,  it is surprising coming from that big buck that Yotehunter got, unbelievable that buck grew such a big rack at 2.5., great genetics! Thank you for the conformation, I was hoping another experianced person would chime in.
