We have seen this topic come up before. I catch & release everything I catch unless it’s large enough to be mounted. I occasionally mount trophy sized fish. I think the problem is not fisherman who are keeping their limit, I think the problem is the bag limits set by the DEC are entirely to liberal. In my opinion the way to stop the over harvesting of fish is for the angling community to push the DEC to lower bag limits or set season a limit like they do for big game or some states do for upland birds. I believe many of the fisherman who in my opinion are taking to many fish are doing it legally so the answer would be to get to DEC to change the rules an most anglers would follow them. Just my thoughts.

Ten small browns in Thursday and then it slowed right down. One yesterday and trolled Rondout this morning with no luck. Tried a bunch of stream spots and managed a small brown and a rainbow. Beautiful day to be out 🙂.

Caught and released this nice wild brown and another smaller one in a local little hop across trib to the Hudson today. It's pretty cool what you can find in tiny creeks that have never been stocked.
