Hey everyone,
I live in southern Dutchess county (Beekman) and work in northern Westchester (Shrub Oak) as a HS Math teacher.
As you can tell from my user name, I love to bird hunt with my German Shorthairs. I have my old lady, Dakota and my new big boy Brodie. Dakota is pushing 14, but still has the desire to hunt and has a great nose, although her legs can't handle a long trip. I picked up Brodie in a rescue situation this spring, trained him a little in the yard over the summer, and have taken him out every weekend since the opener. I, and my guests, have shot our limit over him on almost every trip out..the times we didn't were because we missed the birds. He has amazing potential and I will be happy hunting with him for the next 10 years (I hope).
My other passion that I started the last few years is bow hunting. I have resisted for many years because it will cut into my bird hunting time, but since I picked up a bow, practiced and started hunting, I am addicted. I have been able to harvest at least one deer every year for the first 4 years of bow hunting, and this year I was able to shoot a doe on opening weekend. I have shot some bucks, but not anything that big. I will post some pics of some nice deer and bear that I have gotten on my trail cameras when I get time.
Sorry to ramble on, but this looks like a great site and I am happy to have found it.

Hi all. Im new to the site and hunting. I have been metal detecting, Scuba Diving, Wreck Finding, And Artifact Hunting for 12 years. This is my first year hunting. I am 31 years old and just had my knee replaced wich has kept me outta work for the past 3 months. I started hunting due to bordom. My dad is a sevear animal lover and dont like that I have been hunting. I went out for turkey trying to get one real bad this fall but didnt get anythig although I went out all day everyday for the past 3 weeks. So I didnt know how I would feel after killing something. So I went pheasant hunting and got 4 nice ones. I had a blast and really enjoyed eating them. I only have 1 left. I love venisen and thats why I am hunting. I want the meat. I got 2 doe tags also to give me a bit more luck you cant eat the antlers so I dont care if its a doe. So anyway sorry for ranting on. I am hoping to get my first deer this week. (Anythings gotta be easyer than turkey hunting. Seriously 3 weeks everyday and didnt see a single one not even a roost site..) Well thanks for letting me rant lol..Good luck all..

Welcome aboard funforfree33 - good luck in your adventures, BUT, one thing you will need to learn is "Patience".. turkeys are smarter than you think and will not respond to bogus callings... practice makes perfect.... good luck & hope to see your posts & pics on here soon...
