I heard an interesting solution to New Yorks over deer population. It was suggested on a very well known podcast to create a value for venison. Let wild venison to be sold on the open market while at the same time managing the harvest to avoid the market hunting slaughter in 19th/20th century. If hunters can turn in a doe for $100 you would have no problem with harvesting does. Lets see how serious NY is about increasing doe harvest. Besides filling tags this would also put game farms out of business which is ground zero for CWD ..... a win for everyone ... happy hunters ... happy DEc ... happy restaurants .... happy consumers eating the best range free protein ......
