Grumman Boat Paint/ Sealer Recommendations
« on: June 21, 2021, 08:24:22 AM »
I have an old 14' Grumman Aluminum V-Hull.  Has a couple very minor leaks in the seams.  I just powerwashed it and am thinking about coating the seams and rivets with something.  Any recommendations?  I read online about an epoxy product called Gluvit.  It then needs to be coated with something else.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks

As I understood it when researching paint for aluminum boats make sure it doesn’t contain copper sulfate or it will act like acid

Have heard Gluvit is pretty good for leaks. Have used Benjamin Moore DTM ( Direct To Metal) paint on inside of aluminum boats with good results. Threw fine sand in wet paint on floor of boat for traction.

Flex seal tape, spray on or paste.   Fill boat with water first and mark leaks.   After you seal it.   Then you can paint it.   Put flex seal on inside too.

I used truck bed liner, pretty durable, so far no issues.
