I thought I posted that one awhile back;  it's a 3 1/2 year old.

Thanks Dick. That was a buck jaw bone, he sported quite a nice rack.

Good call;  it's a 3 1/2.

There doesn't appear to be enough wear on the first molar (the fourth tooth in) to kick it up to a 4 1/2.

Congratulations !!

It's hard to make it out with this picture, Relf.

If you can, try another shot from the side view of the tooth row. It is much easier to age if your shot shows the side of the jaw, rather than a shot from above.

My gut feeling from the current picture is that it's quite young.  I can't see much wear on the premolars and molars.

A straight side view shot will ace it for us.

Sorry mr Henry I uploaded wrong picture. The jaw is off a dead head I found that looked to have some great potential. Here's a better one.

There is no wear showing on the molars;  this deer is a yearling.

A yearling is a year and 1/2 old. They have all their teeth on their lower jaw, with little if any wear.  Your jaw was clean with almost no wear.

I'll be doing some deer aging classes again later this summer. It's not that difficult to learn the way I teach it.
