I bought my bow back in the mid 1980s. It was made by a small semi-custom company called Grand Slam Archery. It has a machined aluminum riser, which is what drew me to it back then. It's all I've ever used, and still use it. The younger guys I play pool with all laugh because I still shoot aluminum arrows, and use a finger tab. My bow is only 37% letoff too, which contrasts greatly with what all the bows are now.
I can see the day in the near future when I just switch over to a crossbow though. As unwieldy as they are to carry around, mine adds a good 10 yards to my effective range, and that extra speed should help with avoiding the bad hits from deer "jumping the shot".
