Salmon river
« on: February 15, 2023, 03:33:39 PM »
Hi Guy's
3 of us are putting  together a mini steelhead trip, I am not asking for locations, but I plan on using fly fishing gear and wading in river,  IE, 8 wt rod, is this two heavy should i use my 5/6? and plan on using egg sacks or egg pattern flies, buddies will be using spinning gear to the best of my knowledge.

the questions i have are
when would be best in March
and any suggestions, I feel I will be able have a few hooks ups my buddies, I am not so sure about, I plan on setting them up with floats with a sinker line set up to a barrel swivel attached to 4lb or 6lb leader of fluorocarbon, with egg sacks.   I am also versed in the bead set up but do not feel my buddies will have quick enough response time on hook set due to the artificial bead

Any insight suggestions and thoughts would be great  I am quite experienced in fishing, my buddies not so much so
Thanks
Nick
