Sleighsburgh ramp restrictioned access part 3
« on: April 21, 2020, 02:07:42 PM »
For additional information on this go to earlier post on this page on Sleighsburgh  ramp access. There is still issues with this ramp. There are a few people complaining about the ramp being used again.  The ramp was open prior to Cuomo shutting down the state ramps. Now that the restriction has been lifted by Cuomo this ramp is still closed. I spent a half hour talking to the supervisor today at lunchtime asking why this is still closed. She said the town board needs to vote on this to reopen it. For all you fisherman who use this please call this number today and leave a message tell her you want the ramp opened now,  there is a town board meeting tonight which is going to determine when they open it. Even if you don’t use the ramp call to help out other fishermen. There has been a group of us fighting this for over a year now and we’re still getting grief about using this ramp because one or two people are complaining that live locally. Attached is the number that you need to call 845328-0483

Esopus will block Sleightsburgh Spit access from dusk to dawn - in todays Freeman

ESOPUS, N.Y. — The town will block the access road to Sleightsburgh Spit from dusk to dawn daily.

The Town Board adopted the policy after a lengthy discussion and after listening to dozens of phone messages from fishing, boating and hunting enthusiasts who said they are victims of a vocal minority of people who live near the site.
