I'm currently going to a little lighter set up for stripers..
Getting away from big rods with braid .
I'm thinking mono / with med - heavy rods ../ spinning reels / bait runners..
What's a good mono , probably in the 12 lb range ?
I fish live and chunk herring ..

I fish mono on my blood worm rods, I use Berkley Trilene XT, it?s supposed to be a little tougher than the XL where I always use the XL on my trout rods for the main line.

I always use Gamakatsu 8/0 circle hooks when fishing live or chunk herring. I the same hooks for bloodworms except in 1/0 unless the worms are big then I?ll go up to 3/0. In my opinion they are the best hooks out there.
