I got one too, and I did the short survey associated with it.
I am reading between the lines a bit, but it seems like this is something they're looking to make happen.  I voted against it, but with all the other questions they asked, it would be easy enough to report that "the majority of anglers of a certain age and gender, fishing a set number of days from beaches and jetties supported the measure".
That's usually how these things go.

I received the survey as well. I have no problem with it provided the funds from it are used for the benefit of marine fisheries.

Absolutely not . We already pay a fortune for everything in this state. Gas tax on my gas for the boat and taxes on all fishing gear get it from there.

That was actually my comment on that question.  I said that NY has a long history of misappropriating funds for things like this, and I don't want to pay for something that the politicians divert those funds to at a later date.

Exactly! look at what this state has done for years  with ATV and off-road registrations. Said they would use it to create trails or at a minimum a place to legally ride but we have virtually nothing. Just more law and the ability to ticket you for riding without registration even on your own property. Never underestimate the thievery of NYS politicians!

I wasn’t trying to say the funds would be used appropriately, in this state that would be a lot to expect. I was just saying if it was truly used to benefit marine fisheries I wouldn’t have a problem with it.

As an occasional visitor to Florida, I know they have a saltwater license.  Lots of breakdowns for it too.  You can buy 3, or 7 day, or annual.  Also different fees for shoreline only fishing.  But just about every causeway has parking areas, small boat ramps, and fishing piers that those funds paid for.  You can see all that money being put to use.  There are so many of those that any one I've every been to has had very few people there, there's just that many to pick from.
