-
Caught a few yesterday.
-
I plan on going for the first time on Sunday. Will post pics if we go .
-
Has anybody seen anyone ice fishing anywhere yet?
-
A guy on Westchester Fishing posted a pic of a tiger muskie he caught through the ice somewhere in the Adirondacks
-
I’ve only heard of people fishing 3-4 hours north of us on smaller bodies of water. Oneida froze last night but Monday might mess that up
-
checked local today and only 2-2.5" maybe sunday
-
I have not tried around here but should be soon. Ice fishing groups online people posting lots of locations up north.
-
There were guys on the ice in Rifton this AM, not me.
-
Those guys are crazy if you’re talking about the wallkill river was was setting traps on a swamp in Dutchess county today ice was solid
-
They were on sturgeon pool, the cove across from Coffee Systems on 213.
-
Simply not smart
-
I saw them on sturgeon today, absolutely crazy. The one guy was like 10 ft away from the open water. So stupid in my opinion. Not worth it
-
I can’t wait to go, but it’s not worth going for a swim....
-
I see a guy in eddyville today ice fishing ...
-
Lock sheldrake is iced over but didn’t look inviting
-
I’ll be Adirondack bound next weekend!

Was at Big Pond yesterday. Ice was about 3 inches.

We fished on Sunday in Sullivan county . Had about 5" of ice. Caught a few perch.
-
On Sunday, in about a 15 minute period, I watched a number of hunters working a frozen lake in Athens... From the picture window overlooking the lake I had been watching a murder of crows for a while when a bald eagle showed up to sit in a dead tree. It sat there for a few minutes and then moved on. A few minutes later a red tailed hawk flew along the edge of the lake... Then a blue heron flew across the inlet and landed along the edge. It was standing there for about 5 minutes when a red fox crossed the inlet not 50 feet from the heron. We capture a fox on camera regularly as it passes under the lake side deck. I didn't see any quarry taken that day but like my days afield I enjoyed the hunt. Also, compared to being in NYC on Friday, this cemented my choice of where to live.
-
Just a few small ones today. It was too nice out.

Business as usual for you

How funny, guys are ice fishing, yet I was out trolling today at Kensico, no ice anywhere. Managed 7 lakers and a 19' brown.
-
Good job. Trolled WB both days this weekend, very slow. Two small LLS and a small brown + 1 other hit. Spoons.
-
First ice trip today on North Lake had about 5” in all the holes I drilled. Caught a few perch and bluegill. About 15 people out on the ice.

9" at North South Lake. Chased flags all day, 19 small chain pickerel and three largemouth.
-
Went up to Great Sacandaga last Friday, 7-11" ice, very slow we got two small eyes and a yellow on tipups. Went to NS Lake Sunday, 4-8", shorelines sketchy, slow 4 small picks.

Conditions have changed there... DEC Forest Ranger report sent out on the 28th reported:
Town of Hunter
Greene County
Flat Ice Rescue: On Jan. 26 at 11:08 a.m., Central Office Dispatch received a call from Greene County 911 reporting two ice fishermen who had broken through the ice while riding a snowmobile across North South Lake. The men were towing two ice fishing sleds full of fishing gear from the South Lake spillway to a fishing spot on North Lake when the snowmobile fell through the thinner ice. Both men went into the water, but were able to self-rescue, crawling approximately 50 feet on the ice to shore. A nearby ice fisherman assisted the two men back to shore and called 911. Forest Rangers Hannah O'Connor, Steven Jackson, Robert Dawson, and Jeffrey Breigle, as well as Tannersville Rescue Squad and Hunter Ambulance, responded to the scene and assisted the fishermen out of the woods. The 49-year-old man from High Falls and the 61-year-old man from Washingtonville were evaluated by Hunter Ambulance and refused further medical treatment. Forest Rangers began to evaluate the scene to develop a plan to extract the snowmobile and ice fishing equipment from the remote section of the lake. A local vehicle recovery service was hired by the fishermen to get the snowmobile out of the water. A Forest Ranger using a flat ice rescue suit assisted the fishermen in retrieving and returning their personal belongings, which were scattered around the broken ice and the snowmobile. DEC reminds New Yorkers to visit the DEC website for important information about ice safety.
There is little ice in the Athens area... small coves only while the main part of the lakes all appear to be open water.

Awesome pictures
-
thanks. wanted to get the kids out one more time before the warmup.
-
Found some local ice last few days on a shallow pond, 9 chain picks and a ccat, fun to chase some flags but it's iffy now, wouldn't push it until next cool down, if you do go out don't go without a spud.
-
27.5" tiger.

I asked my son where he wanted to go on his birthday , and he said ice fishing in the Adirondacks.
The last few weekends didn't work out due, so we made it up there yesterday and today.
His goal was to catch his first pike and laker through the ice. We started at Minerva Lake on Sunday.
Caught 3 pike and 1 bass. Missed a few others .
Today we fished Schroon Lake and it was pretty slow. But we did end up with 2 lakers and one was a decent size.
-
What a great birthday request ! Great job .
-
Very cool, nice big pike and that’s a great laker for schroon!
-
Nice job getting it done for him.. (beers)
-
Sweet fish congrats
-
Looks like a great day..Congrats to you and your son!
-
Awesome!!!
-
Spent last weekend up north. Iced 9 small northerns, 3 LMB, and 1 yellow perch. Action was pretty slow for most anglers I ran into.
-
Went up north to Goodyear Lake with some friends on Sunday, no walleye, 10 smallmouth, 2 rock bass, 1 fallfish. Back up north this weekend to Otsego and then over to Otisco for tigers.
Caught this little guy casting yesterday lol
-
Way to get after them Gino! Lack of local ice isn’t stopping you from ice fishing.
-
Sheldrake looks like decent ice on it at least from a moving truck lol
-
Probably my last time on the ice this season.
