Well we finally connected today.  Bird came in fast and hot, my son had his new Stevens 301 .410 but was unable to get a bead on him due to thick cover and the bird never really stopping where we needed him to. Bird was getting spooked and ready to get the heck outta there so I grabbed the gun and let him have it.  9.5 in beard , 19lbs.  Fun morning  with great friends.

Another Sullivan County Tom falls for Ron's custom slate call.  Tagged out for the season: 17 lbs. 2oz., 9 1/2" beard and 1"spurs.

awesome bird, congrats, and yes they do like the sweet sound of Ron's calls.  The one i have is a go to if bird is in roost, after they hit the ground, i must say I almost exclusively use a diaphragm call, Unless I get in a battle with a hen, then the slate comes back out.

Keep at it everyone, I did not take any one out today, but still messed with a bird for about half hr.
