So you put those on a high low dropper loop rig?

I'm going to give it a shot here in next week or so now that NY season is opening.

No, I actually hang it on the same clip that holds the bank sinker on a three-way swivel. . . the hooks hang just below the sinker

My nephew on LI uses a similar rig..

I almost constantly tap the sinker up and down on the rocks . . . I can swear that Togs somehow instinctively come to investigate thinking it is a crab or shellfish scraping against the rocks . . . I also cut off the legs and prep a bunch of crabs once I anchor in order to chum with them . . . . It usually rings the dinner bell soon enough . . . . I have a bag of Tog jigs that I have yet to experiment with, but friends swear by them tipped with a half crab . . .  Good luck Pat (and anyone else fishing for TOG!!)

Nice! Yeah in the shallower LI sound, the lightest jig possible is the ticket. I usually use 1 ounce or 1 1/2 oz. Anything over that sometimes the togs feel the weight an drop it. Those rigs you made work as well an i use them when i fish deeper water like on RI or NJ. Asylum Jigs an Tidal Tail jigs are very popular in western sound

Fished Greenwich CT area yesterday. It was a very slow pick. Not much short life but got two keepers. Water is way too warm. We should have a productive nov.

That's Mighty Wighty thoughtful of you  . . . . but I'll settle for a few of your apples . . . .
                                                                                (beers)

Yes Ron . . .many fish 13"-15" . . . . caught over 40 that I had to throw back . . . great fun tho . . . . the good thing is Blackies are always hooked in the lips or front roof of its mouth, so they swim away unharmed (except for seeing my ugly gub for a few minutes of its life!)   (santa)

Gunner is correct . . . tautog is "good eats" and I try not to freeze it if possible, . . .as fresh is best!

I also bring the fish in to the CIA for my students to practice filleting and have a class tasting (Many have never had it) . . . . . . . . the rest usually goes to my fellow chef- instructor friends for dinner.
Creel limits are abided by . . . .

Congrats on all those togs Ziffy! You sure put together a lot of limit days. I struggled with shorts in October but had some good trips in the western sound on a friend's boat recently.

Thanks Pat,
I hope you realize that I'm speaking to my sons in the video (who all had to work and couldn't make the trip)
I had my line snapped 4 times by jumbos that yanked it down into the rocks . . . .  >:(

I ended the Tog season this past weekend with some great fishing . . . . limited both days with Saturday (the windiest just before a MAJOR THUNDERSTORM @ 3 P>M>) being the best fishing.

Pulled the boat for 2021 season yesterday . . . . .Hate this time of year!  >:(

The up side of fishing this time of year Ziff is that you save $ not needing as much ice!  Looks like you slayed them-- when that barometer drops the bite is on!  The only trick is being there when it happens.  As the good Dr said, "don't be sad that it's over, be happy that it happened!'  Way to get it done.
