CARES Act Disaster Fishery Relief Survey
« on: July 21, 2020, 07:18:13 PM »
don't know if it affects anyone here but some info from the DEC:

"Good afternoon,

Money has been allocated to support the recovery of the commercial fishing, seafood, aquaculture, and for-hire fishing industries from the effects of COVID-19. Below is a link to a survey that will help determine how those funds are appropriated. I encourage each of you to fill out the survey, if applicable, so you are adequately represented when funds are distributed. Please pass this on to any for-hire or commercial fishermen and fisherwomen you may know.

This spring was very strange for all of us and very difficult for some, I hope that everyone has stayed safe and that we can all get back to fishing like we used to.

Please take care,

Jessica

CARES Act Disaster Fishery Relief Survey
Fisheries Relief Funding for State Fishing Industries Impacted by COVID-19
DEC is requesting New York State marine and coastal fishery stakeholders to complete a brief survey to help determine priorities and offer input on how to best appropriate funds provided by the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, also known as the CARES Act.
New York has been allocated approximately $6.7 million in CARES Act relief funding to support the recovery of commercial fishing, seafood, aquaculture, and for-hire fishing industries from the impacts of COVID-19. Eligible individuals and businesses must demonstrate a 35 percent revenue loss during a period in 2020 as compared to the prior five-year average over the same period. Once New York’s fishery relief plan is approved by NOAA Fisheries, DEC will provide application instructions based on the final fishery relief plan criteria. At that time, DEC will work cooperatively with the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) to distribute funds as quickly as possible.
Please complete the survey by August 5, 2020. For more information, visit CARES Act Marine Fisheries Relief Program on DEC’s website.
