Squirrel rut

For those who like small game hunting this winter has been mild and it seems like the squirrel rut has begun a little early including chipmunks they are chasing all over behind my house

Scraping horns?
Those are the jackalopes.  Their rut is just about all year long.
The problem is that both genders have antlers, so there is lots of confusion, and progeny are few and far between.

I can remember reading about it in one of the old long gone outdoor magazines they have on average 3 litter's a season when a female is in heat the male's follow them several at a time and show no interest in a hunter walking up on them
