« on: June 02, 2023, 01:19:50 PM »
Did anyone hunt the Long Island turkey hunt this spring and if so were the birds as weary as the birds upstate.
Curious to see being they were never hunted before.

I HUNTED LONG ISLAND THIS SEASON - 2 DAYS , 2 DIFFERENT SPOTS .
WE HEARD BEARDS BOTH DAYS , DAY 1 WE SHOULD HAVE KILLED A BIRD BUT MY DUAGHTERS CROSSHAIRS WHERE BROKEN IN HER SCOPE .
WHEN I TRIED TO CRAWL UP AND SWAP GUNS WITH HER I GOT BUSTED .
DAY 2 WE WORKED A BIRD FOR AN HOUR BUT DIDNT GET HIM TO COME IN CLOSE ENOUGH .
BIRDS WHERE FAIRLY VOCAL BUT INTERESTING NOTE . WE COULD NOT ROOST AS BIRD OR GET ONE TO SHOCK GOBLE AT ALL,  EVEN WHEN STANDING VERY CLOSE AND OWL HOOTING . I THINK THEY ARE JUST SO USE TO ALL THE NOISE .
SIDE NOTE -
THOSE BIRDS ON THERE NEWLY OPENED STATE LAND HAVE DEFFENTLY BEEN HUNTED BEFORE WE FOUND OLD TURKEY SHELLS FROM MULTIPLE YEARS , MAYBE FIRST TIME LEGALLY HUNTED BUT PEOPLE HAVE DEFFENTLY BEEN HUNTING THOSE NEWLY OPENED SPOTS.
