Unusual trail cam picture

This is on our farm in western ny look at the background there is an otter behind the turkeys this is half mile up the hill

That was my first thought but after studying it and showing it to a dec friend definitely otter but I did have a smaller fisher on same camera

looks like a fisher to me also with the longer legs.. Cool picture for sure.  GOBBLE GOBBLE

I’m going with fisher. I can see how it looks like otter, but think it’s stranger for an otter to be that distance from water in that location, then to be a fisher that looks strange.

A lot of otter are seen far from water as far as id back end is to big and sits higher than a fisher and tail looks way more otter than fisher

Looks like a fisher to me.  What makes for otter ID?  Remember Sider--the governor "works" for the state -- and that's proof that just because you're a state official-- your not always right.😎

He actually is a dec biologist and I have several fishers on camera none have the large rear end and fishers usually have a hump back when moving either way still an unusual photo

Cool pic, what do I know about biology anyway- the other day I filled out a new form for my doctors office and it had six choices to choose from under gender ;)

I don't know, but to me it could be a coyote sniffing the ground? Either way the upcoming turkey season is looking pretty good!
