Where the hell is all the bait??

Literally for DAYS now bait from shore has been damn near impossible. What gives? Even with the relatively low water temps there should be WAY more herring being caught.

They went deep again and moved north, a new push will be here shortly.

Same oooo happen last few years. if you have been striper fishing long enough your seeing things that we never seen before. Bait never went deep years ago there were always herring to be caught no matter what the temps were during the month of may. Here on the hudson and only north of the tappen Z is the only place on the entire east coast that anglers can have possession of herring.  Wonder why that is? because decades of over commercial fishing and now less herring to be caught. Thats why we are not catching herring like we use to.

Been striper fishing for well over 50 years and it seems like  every year they disappear for 4 or 5 days around the same time every year.Give it a couple days and they will be back along the shores.

3 hours yesterday with no herring above kingston. Maybe your right striperman but been gettin worse every year..

3.5 hours trying to get herring from shore today an nothing didnt even see 1! Wtf

The cold pushed them deep. There has been plenty of bait up until the cold snap.

I hear you - all last week . Very tough to get bait in River . Went this morning - Zero on getting herring
