Quota hunts, are the golden ticket to some great, unpressured public hunting. Quota hunts are offered by most state wildlife agencies, and there are also draw hunts on federal refuges and some municipally owned local lands, parks, and private land under a hunter access agreement. The quota hunt system randomly selects a specified number of hunters from a pool of applicants. Usually group applications are accepted or successful applicants can take a buddy or two. Another system is preregistration, and when the allotted number of hunters is reached, registration is closed. Some programs require you to arrive early and get in line...
