New Striper Bait Supply!

After a couple years of hassle to keep myself consistently stocked with Blood worms and terrible lack of local access in Kingston and The Rondout creek area I've decided to open up a bait shack. I have partnered with Rondout Yacht Basin to set up shop and offer iced and Live Herring, Bloodworms possibly Sands, along with some Striper specific hooks, sinkers,  terminal tackle and Sabiki rigs.  This location is great for boaters and shore fishermen alike to get their bait right here locally and be back fishing quickly. I'm working out a few details but I hope to be able to offer call ahead orders where we meet you on the gas dock with your bait waiting for grab and go service to get you fishing quickly. 

Currently I'm taking pre-orders for bloodworms to supply our first week of April to kick off our 2020 Striper Run. I will have herring as supply dictates especially early season. The first 2 weeks I will have limited hours and availability that will be made by appointment only, after April 15th we are looking at 7 days a week 6am-3pm. I look forward to helping serve our fellow community Striper Fishermen!

I heard this as well - very generous! Word is that he is putting a lock on the live herring and will post the combination here. I'll offer to self-limit to half a dozen a day and no more than 20 per week.

My son will be the guy working the shack and fishing out the bait along with a few others that will cover. I'm doing all the business side of things setting up everything,  permits, tackle and bait shipments.  I'll be catching herring when time permits between charters but I'm setting up a network of comercial guys that I will buy herring from to keep supplied. It's not going to be easy and I may regret it but there is such a need for this here on the Rondout creek and especially by water it's worth the effort.  Roundout Yacht Basin is great and we will mutually benefit from this with bait, fuel, ice, snacks and drinks all in one spot close to the river. Think about all the guys running to falls for herring,  it's an 1-2 hour round trip depending on how easy jigging bait is. I'm not sure about others but I'd rather spend that time fishing than wasting fuel and time.
