6.5 CREEDMOOR VS 6.5 PRC

<< < (2/3) > >>

Geezer:
I voted for the PRC for hunting over the Creedmoor simply for the added velocity. Like most new cartridges there is a chance that it will not be popular enough for ammunition to be available in the future, but if you stock up  and save the cases you should be good for many years. By then you'll be looking at a new rifle chambered in whatever is the new best cartridge.  ;)

Chris1389:
Go with the PRC. In the meantime find the perfect ammo for it that you like and buy a case or two with it. Buy once cry once.  I did that with my 20g h&r. I bought a case of 2 3/4inch accutips an itll last me years bc its my hunting gun. Every year that round gets harder to find im glad i bought a case .

DXT:
I’d say go with the PRC, you reload, so you have a ton of options.

I never understood all this hype about the creedmore cartridge and now this PRC round .
I have several rifles chambered in the old 6.5x55 Swedish mauser caliber ..
The 6.5x55 swede has been around since 1894 and became popular in the 1896 Swedish mauser .
I handload 120 grain accubonds around 2800 fps ..and its performance is outstanding , with components readily available..very little recoil or muzzle blast ..

Just my opinion,  but on the other hand , if it gives you a reason to buy a new gun , then by all means go for it ....:-)

The 260 Remington is a good choice too, not sure why it never was popular.  Been around since 1997.  I had one in an Encore pistol setup for deer hunting in Indiana.

MUSKRAT:
I agree the 260 Remington is another excellent choice
308 Winchester necked down to .264 / or 6.5 mm...
Lots of good bullet choices  in the 6.5
