What animal, a question

Guys, Can you tell me what animal is doing this to my stump in my yard, it seems to have just appeared within the last 5 days?

Put a trail camera next to it . You will know if it comes back. I have one you can use if you dont have one.

If that was the work of a woodpecker he must be on steroids that stump is 3 ft high! They work that hard?

Are there ants in the stump? Pileated woodpeckers love carpenter ants and they are big enough to do that to a stump in short order.
