Nice birds everyone, congrats ! I Had a great weekend with the kids bird hunting and Striper fishing. My buddy Jimmy shot this late morning bird and my kiddos were lucky to be present. I was able to connect with a big long beard myself using my .410 pistol. He was 10 yards away when I pulled the trigger. What a great weekend.

Had the best turkey hunt and killed my PB Saturday morning. First limb hanger. Stats ----21#, 10", 1 1/8". Story--Put to bed Friday evening...Snuck in Saturday morning, kicked deer out on way in but no blowing, 5:00 AM set...Bird started gobbling 5:04... sat tight and listened to him call for 18 minutes and held off any calling till he flew down...Tom flew down and surprised me because I was only 75 yds from the base of his tree...gave him my first call and he was 100 yds away and hammered back with double come find me now! from a wood road above me...I stayed quiet knowing that he knew right where I was I shifted my position so my Mossy was pointing up the hill toward the top of the wood road...Tom kept calling but to my concern he was walking away from me...so I hit him again with my 2nd set of yelps from my box---he went crazy with call after call....but still wasn't coming in but going down the hill on an end around on a smaller wood road so I moved my position so i was pointing on a stone wall fence lower on the hill...I softened my call to a few clucks with a few purrs and shut up....he kept up calling and now finely closing some distance...looking the area over he was coming up the hill and I knew that when i would see him he would be in range of my 3 1/2' 12 mag with copper coated 6's...another soft purr with a few clucks----Hammer back--I need a date...Cluck-Cluck-purr---Hammer---Purr-Purr- Hammer...I shut up and had the 12 with safety off ready... finely there he was @ 40 yds in the clear so the front bead covered the white head and I squeezed and click--miss fire--not the sound you want to hear!...somewhat relieved that he kept hammering I waited for him to go behind a tree and ever so slowly i pumped the mossy 835 and put it on him when he stepped out and head shot him and dropped him cold...a little over 20 minutes from fly down.
-
My PB, When you can hang them from an apple limb you know you got a good one!
-
Miss fire--center shell---CLICK!---- the mossy 835 just got a strip cleaning 8)

Busy weekend for dad and I, lots of jakes and a few hang ups
Today we sat up on two long beards and had a Jake fly right down and end up 10 yards but the two big guys had at least 3 hens with em that they followed out of sight
Then the wind picked up so we went a tried a few low land places and low and behold at 10:20 we finally heard one
He came in on a string and then set up a strut zone about 30 yards away right behind a blow down go figure
But after not calling for about an hr he finally went the wrong way for him, but right way for dad,
Dad walked up to him at 11:50 call it close to the end
9.25" beard
1 3/8" spurs
23.4 lbs per the ole scale
Only issue was half his beard is rotted away maybe freeze or a mite
But awesome hunt and now maybe the boss will let me sleep in
-
Congrats to you and your dad Killercrow.
Real nice bird!

Glad to see all the Jake's this year as last year I didnt see none.. next time out will be Sunday the 21st.. good luck everyone.
-
Well congrats to another successful Hunter/huntress
She did all the work on finding a place that was loaded with turkeys
So we went and scooped out the farm last night, and well on the way down the farm road saw a big ole Tom walking into the adjoining wood lot, we gave him some time and walked in to locate a good location for this morning, after about ten min I located a nice spot with some ok shooting lanes, and brushed her in at the base of an old rotted pine.
Got to the woods at about 5 this morning on walk to our set up we heard a gobble right over the bank from where we had picked to set up.
I slowly sneaked out and set the decoys out which saved us
Lol
The bird heard the first few yelps on a Ronny special.
I only called maybe twice more well on roost both times he sounded off.
We heard him fly down away from us but instantly started to talk walking his way towards the fields circling up to our left
I could now see him coming in but again way off to our left so I did not call
He ended up strutting about 10 yards away from me to my left literally five yards from her husband but he could not turn to see either, with no shot for the hunter. I feel bad she could not even see him due to his location less than 15 yards from her
As I watched not calling at all he set up a strut zone and as he turned he Cought glimps of the decoys went out of strut and headed right at them coming into view to the Hunter at about 15yards, as soon as he passed a tree she settled and squeezed one off and he went down in a heap.
Just over 9" beard
3/4" spurs
Guess weight 17-18 lbs

Great Bird!
-
Congratulations everyone. Here is a picture of my son Chase with his first bird. He harvested this one during the youth weekend. 20lb, 9” beard and I called it in with one of Ron’s aweomse handmade pot calls. He also used his Mossberg .410 pump with TSS loads. Such a fun little gun for turkeys. I’m amazed on the punch that the TSS shot has.
-
And here’s mine from last week. 21lb, 10” beard. I also used my sons .410 and Ron’s call did the magic again. I guess I just couldn’t let my son outdo me. 🤣
-
Great birds Killercrow and Take Em, well done!
Special congratulations to the young man and his first bird!
Rons calls definitely get their attention..
-
Great job on your birds
-
Awesome guys that's great the ole .410 rocking em and yea rons call work great
-
Good Bull all on some very nice birds! Like I said I need to find a 410 for my contender 14. That TSS round is over $5 a round I heard--doesn't surprise me much----everything is crazy money nowadays.
-
Today it all played out like it’s so pose to in the turkey woods and the turkey gods shined down on me. I shot the biggest turkey of my life. 24lbs, 10 1/4” beard and 1” spurs. Congratulations to all the successful Turkey hunters!
-
Great birds guys and gals. Congrats.
-
Great birds everyone hope there's a few horny ones left for when I get from this trip I'm on.. good luck everyone.. (beers)
-
Congrats razor that's a beauty
I worked a bunch of birds for dad this am but none came with in range flew down to about 70 yards and set up strut zone till his hens came over bank and took him away
-
nice one razor (beers).. hey thanks for all the compliments on my slate calls guys..
-
Congrats razor that's a beauty
I worked a bunch of birds for dad this am but none came with in range flew down to about 70 yards and set up strut zone till his hens came over bank and took him away
Mine did about the same thing but there was a rise between him and me. I was able to belly crawl to about 40 yards and called is hen towards me to about 30 yards where I could get a shot. I didn’t think it would work, but the plan played out for once.
-
Great bird Razor, Congrats!
-
Good Bull Razor-- congrats on that PB== I'm thinking that you are going to have a hard time getting another PB after that one!
-
Lol razor that's great, there was a small ledge between us I tried to get my dad to do same thing well I stayed and called but he said no, no reason to bust em out. Glad to hear the belly crawl worked I have used that method my self a few times
-
Yesterday I got a nice bird at 53 yards but can't seem to be able to post a picture
-
Went out this morning with my buddy trying to kill a smart bird we've had a few encounters with, had a bird gobbling crazy, it was a hen gobbling never witnessed that before must have been a transgender, it was pretty wild, I forgot the go pro would have been awesome footage no bs.

it drank the bud light 😂 but on a serious note, yes I did see this once or twice in my last 30 years of turkey 🦃 hunting. Once it was a mad hen that I must have been to close to her nest. It’s bizarre for sure, lol
-
never seen that either. Slept in today couldnt get my butt out of bed. lol

And yes jimboy I’ve been fortunate to see a two hens on separate occasions strut and gobble twice in my lifetime so far it was pretty amazing to witness
-

Not a gobble this morning.
Till next year...

Glad to hear that your area had lots of jakes.
I spend many days and didn't see not a one in mine.

No turkey 🦃 for me this year, I had good action most every time I went out, but unfortunately I didn’t get out as much as I would have liked to. Maybe next year 🤷♂️
-
It was a very quite year for me scored once and spent six solid days in the mountains and not even a gobble
-
that's crazy blu wonder were they went.
-
Spent allot of time out this year as like last year. Only had 2 days where birds didn’t talk. The population is definitely on the uptic. But I also hunted 25 miles every day hopping from spot to spot to locate birds. From why I’ve seen the birds seem to move into and out of areas so you need to have allot of spots to keep the action going.
