At first glance you don't see many-- lay down under the tree and look up through the canopy and on a warm day(84'F in my orchard today) I've counted North of 50 bees in one tree. Different kinds of bees--wood, honey, and the boss--the bumble.  See the pollen on their back leg. It's in a pollen basket that all bees have on their rear legs called a corbicula. It's made up of hairs pointed in to hold pollen as it forages flowers to bring its bounty back to the hive.  Nectar is sucked into its gut through its proboscis (elongated sucking mouthpart) that it pukes up back at the hive.

No Ron, different insect.  These bumbles live in the ground.  The insect that you are having issues with is a carpenter bee most likely but I would have to see a specimen or picture to be certain.
