Old hunting knives
« on: August 14, 2020, 02:21:10 PM »
Anyone on here have an old hunting knife, or still use an old hunting knife, post a picture of it, and how you got it.
The oldest one I have, I don't remember were I got it.  It's an old KA - Bar  and a guy told me if I remember correctly is from  the late 40's , iam going to carry it this fall. It deserves
Another walk in the woods.

We need a definition of "old."  I know I've got a couple sheath knives I bought new about 50 years ago... My newest sheath knife is about 30 years old...  :o

Old is if you got it before Amazon and Ebay / Facebook/ Twitter/ cellphone 's / drive tru hamburger joints / coffee shops, sold all the stupid flavors & ice coffee. Before cable tv
Back when gas for your truck was $ 0.29 gal  , back when
You only had 3 tv station,  and a 7 transistor portable radio.
Back when you had to hang your clothes outside on a clothes line to dry..back when they didn't close school because 2" of snow fell over night,

I still have my Schrade that I bought from the factory store in Ellenville, probably 40 yrs ago.  I've added a few more over the years, all USA made.

Oh... you mean back when the TV was black and white and there was an antenna on the house that you had to rotate to get each of those three channels clearly... Cartoons were only on Saturday morning... and nobody thought anything of a 12 year old carrying his Boy Scout knife in school? I came across some of my old knives the other day. Two 50+ year old Cub and Boy Scout knives are on the book shelf behind me (not pristine specimens!).

We've had buffalo in NY for quite a while... For example, just north of Lake Katrine on Old Kings Highway, visible from the Thruway... The Boices may take exception to having any skinned however.  I recall one being hit on the Taconic also...
