Duck Nesting Boxes
« on: May 04, 2021, 11:46:15 AM »
I have some ducks regularly visiting my pond, and I'm thinking of setting up a nesting box or two for them.  I've seen wood ducks, buffleheads, and mallards, along with some Canada geese (which I chase away).  Both the woodies and buffleheads will nest in boxes, but not sure if it's already too late this year for that.

Has anyone had nesting boxes used successfully?  Is it too late now for this year?  Any other tips or advice for me?

Maybe a little late, maybe not. if nothing else they'll be up for next year. i know there have been studies that suggest woodies remember nesting locations they see in  the fall for the next spring. so doesn't hurt.
