Back from hog hunting in S.C.
« on: February 10, 2019, 10:05:18 PM »
I've been going down to South Carolina for several years now to go hog hunting. Helps break up the gap between deer seasons. This year I was lucky enough to shoot my biggest boar hog which was over 200 pounds. I was at Cypress Creek Hunting Lodge. This week was unusually hot. One day hit 81 degrees.
Hogs were moving after dark. I shot these 2 between 8pm and 9pm.

My parents have a place in Myrtle Beach so I was considering doing a guided hog hunt next time I was down there in August.

Walkabout --- had some loins last night, they are really good.

BennyYL --- It's nasty hot down there in August. Most hog movement will be at night. Check with the outfitter.
Some offer all year hunts but January to March is most common for hogs.

Appleman -- I think it was $375/day. Up to 2 hogs/day. We did a 3 day hunt. No gaurantee. My buddy came home empty handed. We are already booked for another hunt this January.

Thanks Warren,  After I get this crop in the cooler I'll be needing a break that doesn't involve 70 green horses.  I was thinking hogs or fish.
