I think this virus will start to slow by May, like almost all cold and flu viruses, but it's gonna get WAY worse here for a month or so now, before it starts to get better. NYC is gonna get ugly, looting, riots, all that fun stuff.
The stock market generally falls fast and climbs slow. In this case the economy is being damaged, this is not just a normal stock market "correction," so I think it's gonna be quite a while before the Dow is back to 30,000, 5 years at least, maybe 10.

The truth is here in NY we cant afford to do a full quarantine lock down like in Italy. Our governor at least knows that. In Italy you dont need much to get by and healthcare an schooling is fully paid for. They dont have the bills and high rent we have here in NY.  Also it seems the full lockdowns are not effective bc Italy is losing people by the hundreds in 24hours. Were just going to have to sit an wait until an effective treatment becomes available. Regeneron said they may have treatment medicine for it by may. They played a major role in the Ebola outbreak.

Politically it's getting worse... DOJ wants to rewrite the legal process as we know it due to the emergency... Constitution be dammed.

DOJ seeks new emergency powers amid coronavirus pandemic

https://www.politico.com/news/2020/03/21/doj-coronavirus-emergency-powers-140023

Add this to the run on guns and ammo and the closing of non-essential stores (including gun shops)...

Definitely time to reach out to our congressional representatives and tell them to just say "NO."

SAF SUES N.J. GOVERNOR FOR DEPRIVATION OF RIGHTS

BELLEVUE, WA – In a move directly linked to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Second Amendment Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit against New Jersey Gov. Philip D. Murphy and State Police Supt. Patrick J. Callahan, asserting violation of civil rights under color of law by shutting down firearms dealerships in the Garden State, thus preventing citizens from exercising their rights under the Second and Fourteenth amendments.

Murphy and Callahan are being sued in their official capacities. The case, which was filed in the U.S. District Court for the State of New Jersey is known as Kashinsky v. Murphy.

Joining SAF in this action is the New Jersey Second Amendment Society, on behalf of Robert Kashinsky and Legend Firearms, a gun shop in the state. They are represented by noted civil rights attorney David Jensen.

Kashinsky sought to purchase a firearm for personal protection during the current crisis, but Murphy issued Executive Order 107 on March 21, which ordered all non-essential retail businesses closed to the public. The order does not include licensed firearms dealers on its list of “essential” businesses that may continue operating during the crisis.

“In order for New Jersey residents to purchase firearms,” noted SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb, “they must go through a licensed firearms retailer and pass a background check. However, Murphy’s order was subsequently followed by a notice posted on the State Police website that the agency is no longer conducting background checks.

“Gov. Murphy cannot simply suspend the Second Amendment, and neither can Supt. Callahan,” he continued. “Yet, under this emergency order, that’s exactly what they’re doing. The Constitution, and federal law, don’t allow that. New Jersey may have been the first state to ratify the Bill of Rights, but they’re the last state to recognize it.”

The lawsuit seeks an injunction restraining the defendants and everyone acting on their behalf from enforcing Executive Order 107 “to the extent it operates to flatly prohibit the purchase and sale of firearms and ammunition.”

I'm working too - but from home, which is good. Our company was deemed necessary - so I am not too badly impacted. But I do recognize that many folks are impacted - and I hope this whole nightmare reverts back to some sense of normalcy (I'm not a doctor or a politician - so I have no idea how long this is gunna last)

Just got the bad news on my new boat - the trailer manufacturers have closed and my delivery date is gunna get delayed for a while.  >:(

Since this is a family oriented site - I will withhold the language that I would like to use .... &^^$%#*&

But I have to keep it in perspective - waiting for a trailer is pretty minor compared to pain and suffering that is all around us.

I'm not looking to start a war either, but perhaps someone was just mistaken or took something out of context. I mean let's just look at that statement. 1 in 42 came in to work. I highly doubt any station in Dutchess County is staffed with 42 troopers. That's a lot. I'll go a step further and wager that in any given day there's not even 42 troopers patrolling the entire county. Not calling anyone a liar, but something seems off. Now if it were 42 statewide that might be correct.

Some good News from Second Amendment Foundation

SAF APPLAUDS TRUMP ADMIN. FOR ‘ESSENTIAL’ RULING ON GUN SHOPS
BELLEVUE, WA – Declaring that American gun owners owe President Donald Trump a “very big thank you,” the Second Amendment Foundation today is cheering the announcement from the Department of Homeland Security defining firearms manufacturers and retailers as “essential businesses.

“Every freedom loving American owes President Donald Trump and his administration a very big thank you for protecting our Second Amendment rights,” said SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb in reaction to the DHS announcement. “This is another Trump promise made and promise kept.”

Gottlieb, who has been busy preparing lawsuits against several potential states and even local governments for ordering gun shops to close their doors during the COVID-19 crisis—defining them as “non-essential businesses” while okaying such things as breweries and marijuana shops—was delighted at the news.

“A lot of people have done incredible work this week to make it happen,” he confirmed. “A number of people, including governors and even mayors and at least one California sheriff appear to have let their personal politics get in the way of common sense public policy. During a time of crisis, we can think of no more essential endeavor outside of health care and emergency services than businesses that enable citizens to exercise their fundamental right to keep and bear arms.

“It could be that the American public, by heading to gun shops and sporting goods stores as the Coronavirus panic spread, reminded government officials what the Second Amendment is really about,” Gottlieb observed. “Even people who never before owned a firearm rushed to buy one as the pandemic has spread. Instinctively, people headed to those places where they could buy guns and ammunition, which underscores just how essential those businesses really are.

“The president and his administration have done the right thing,” Gottlieb said. “They are dealing with a national emergency while remembering that no malady, however severe, can nullify or even temporarily suspend the exercise of a constitutionally delineated fundamental right.”

The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org) is the nation's oldest and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to more than 650,000 members and supporters and conducts many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control.
