So sorry Muskrat.
When I put my hound dog down I few years ago I swore I would never get another dog.
The heartbreak was just too much.

Best thing I ever did was to get my old lab at 12 a new puppy they were best friends , made the hurt a little less painful when i lost her @ 15 1/2 .

Bob, sorry to hear about your lab. Mine is 16 and I know I have her on borrowed time.

Had to put my last lab down and and it still hurts thinking about it. It was so hard on me that I didn't get another for a little over 2 years--looking back at it I think it was a mistake I'll never make again. Life's too short not to have a lab for a best friend. Belly, my yellow dog is now 4 and brings me happiness every chance she can. Sorry for your loss Muskrat, my grandpa always told me that good dogs live shorter lives than we do to teach us how precious life is and to remind us not to waste a second of it. I trust that when the time is right you will find a place in your heart for another best friend.

So sorry for your loss, it's one of the toughest things you'll ever have to do. My old girl is 14 now and i hope she makes it to 100.
