Title: Corona virus
Post by: THE BUCKMASTER on March 01, 2020, 07:13:08 PM: So today I went to pick up a gallon of bleach for my wife. First place was Wal-Mart and they were sold out. So I went to Shoprite in Ellenville. The gallon of bleach is usually $4.99 was $17.99 is that price gouging or what? Always someone's gain in a bad situation. What does everyone think?

Regarding the price of a gallon of bleach, I am a capitalist and understand supply and demand, but price gouging in a panic situation goes too far. I thought price gouging was illegal, but that law may only cover specific items.

Post by: ruck on March 06, 2020, 10:34:33 AM: To make your own hand sanitizer, mix Everclear grain alcohol and vegetable glycerin, 3/4cup Everclear to 1/4 cup glycerin (used to thicken) It kills germs as good as Purell, and when this virus blows over you can drink what's left over, both ingredients are edible! I added a bit of peppermint essential oil so it smells nice, and still drinkable. ;)

And the ingredients are actually available and not being price gouged. I got the vegetable glycerine on Amazon, it may be hard to find locally.
