Hudson River Striper Migration
« on: March 24, 2023, 05:51:36 PM »
Does anyone have an opinion on if there will be stripers in Hudson around Newburgh on the opening weekend? Also if throughout the season anyone has any info on the striper migration that they would like to share please post here?

Thanks in advance

River herring usually arrive first and as of yesterday (Friday) I have not seen or heard of any in Kingston area yet . . .don't know about Newburg . . .but it is definitely possible to have both herring & stripers in the area by opening day with the mild Winter we have had! It's supposed to be near 60 degrees tomorrow!

Scapped first herring today in Highland at the beginning of outgoing tide. It was a loner but earliest I've ever scapped a herring in the main river.

I should have, but hastily turned it into bait, which didn't result in anything. It took me about 45 minutes to get it and then nothing for another 3-4 hours. No herring today...
