Got One!
« on: December 02, 2022, 10:25:17 AM »
While not successful with the bow, the crossbow, or the rifle yet, I racked up a second doe with my car yesterday.
(those dents on the door are from the one back in April)

Here's a pic from the one back in April.
Both of these were within 200 yards of each other on my drive to work.
Instead of hunting where I am, I should go hunt there instead.

That’s a good hit. There should be deer crossings signs over there so the deer know no to cross there.  Anyone remember that news reporter A few years ago?

I would be interested to see the numbers on increase-decrease-stay the same with the decline in deer populations in NY on auto body fixes due to deer/car interactions.

Can't tell you how many times people have said that to me these past few days.
Both of those were solid hits, deer flew off the car like a golf ball off a seven iron.  Strangely, neither hit involved the bumper to any significant degree.  I guess the car sits low enough that the bumper is under the deer's body, but still high enough that it (thankfully) doesn't make it to the windshield.

As old and ugly as the Echo is, I really like that little car.  Averaged 38-40 mpg, reliable as can be, parts are cheap and still available, handles decent in the snow (with good tires), and is cheap to insure.  I may see if I can get another for my drive-to-work transportation.

That sucks, but as long as you weren't hurt, car can be fixed or replaced.
