Leadcore
« on: May 24, 2022, 04:43:22 PM »
To my fellow leadcore trollers on the reservoir, what brand lead do you use? The past few years I’ve been running Suffix 832 advanced 12lb. But this year I’ve been having a ton of issues with it. Kinks, frays, lead splitting, and twice now this year I’ve had my leadcore snap off on a big fish before my 10lb leader or any knots fail. And this lline was brand new at beginning of this season. Thinking about trying something different. Any input? Thanks

I’ve been thinking about switching to the Tuf Line I’ve heard a lot of guys using it. but the 15lb. I have used the suffix 18lb and don’t want to go that heavy. I like the sensitivity of the smaller lines

Ive used Suffix in the past and dont remember any issues with it. I also use 12 lb. on my rigs. Maybe they had a bad run of it ?? I did have a problem years ago of the line breaking on me or so i thought. After looking at my poles a bit closer the  end guide had worn out from use and was cutting the line on me. That wasnt Suffix line though.

Mason 18lb. Have caught stipers pushing 30lbs with it and some nice trout never a issue.

I use both Suffix 832 and Tuf-Line microlead. The 832 has a noticeably better sink rate but kinks easily and has to be replaced more often, while the microlead is easier to handle and more durable, but you need more line out to achieve the same depth.

I use Sufix Performance in 15lb. I find it to be more durable and longer lasting than the others I've tried. I buy it on Amazon on a 600yd spool for about $80. To buy 600yds of 832 would cost $200+

Thanks for the input guys. I think I'm going to give the tuf line microlead a try for now
