Hi everyone. The butcher I have used for the past 10 years has retired. It was great because he was 10 minutes away from me, but I am looking for a new butcher if I decide to drop it off instead of doing myself. We all know that doing it ourselves is better, but sometimes time is an issue so I would like to have an other option before hand.I would prefer the name of someone in southern Dutchess or Putnam counties. I am in the town of Beekman and hunt locally, as well as in Kent, Putnam Co. I also hunt Westchester and use Amato's if I am down that way. Thanks with any suggestions.
Gary? Heinz. He’s on south Greenhaven Rd. Not sure if he’s still butchering deer
maybe a good time to start butchering on your own ... I've stopped using a butcher for @ least 10 years and enjoy hunting more now plus get way more meat and cut everything like i want it ..... MANY YEARS AGO bought a butchering video from https://www.lemproducts.com/ ..... there's tons on YouTube now on how to do it ... i know exactly how my meat was handled and no matter what the Deer i used to turn in i was lucky to get 12 pounds of chop meat ... now taking a mature deer i always get 20 to 30 pounds of chop meat and another 30 pounds of steak and chops .... it takes me a good 2 weeks to finish but the meat is always in the fridge .... things u need is a dedicated fridge (easily convinced the wife we needed a new fridge and i took the old) boning knife .... grinder and some means to package ... i prefer to vacuum seal everything ....
