Shooting bow with 2 eyes open v 1 eye open
« on: September 12, 2021, 07:51:06 PM »
Having shot a buck last year on a successful, but marginal shot, I've been getting in more practice this year.  I've started shooting with both eyes open v just one open like years past. I've started to see an overall improvement in placement and grouping.  Plus, tracking the arrow from release to impact is unbelievably better.

Anyone else shoot like this or switched and seen improvement?

In my experience it makes for great target shooting however in the stand you may not pick up branches in the way

I am left eye dominant and right handed, I can shoot left handed but not Natural to Mr so I shoot all weapons Right Handed and close 1 eye. In my opinion the 2 eye method is only critically more important in wingshooting clays or birds or shooting moving targets with rifle.  I personally don't shoot running deer so non issue for me bow or gun.

Under thirty five yards I keep both eyes open. Over thirty five I close one eye.

At forty five I'd probably be better off closing both eyes (JK)

I can not shoot my bows with both eyes open. My problem now is seeing my pins clearly. I'm thinking I may get a varifier peep over the winter.

interesting ... didnt know that existed ... i guess its a peep with a lens in it like reading glasses .... i was looking into something like a site with a magnification  lens on it but read that doesn't help since its one lens and u need another like a scope has ......

I use progressive contact lenses for both farsighted and nearsighted and can see the pins but the target sometimes seems small to me

I use a  varifier to see my pins with out it it would be tough for me. I am able to shoot with both eyes open with it for some reason its still clear.
