I am happy to have been influenced by Elmer in my youth... I've never had a front sight with various distance lines, and never got to shoot at 500+ yards with a handgun, but I certainly did enjoy shooting at 100-200 yards because he let me know it was possible! ...and without him we never would have had Dirty Harry and his great big .44. 😉
