It's pretty bleak where I hunt in Town of Newburgh, at least 18 found dead on a few hundred acres. The place I hunt in Illinois got hit with it back in 2011, took 4-5yrs for the herd to recover. It's pretty discouraging.

Not every deer, but EHD took its toll on deer heard.  I've seen deer on almost all of my sits, but certainly not what i have saw in the past.

What I don’t understand is why are they still giving out doe tags for 3m?  Doesn’t make sense to me

I agree. Makes no sense to me either. My two 3m tags are in the garbage.

Orange County is only mostly dead. There’s a big difference between mostly dead and all dead.

I was told DEC gave second round of tag because most of the deer that died from EHD were bucks. The thinking was with the excess doe that didn't die during the rug the bucks would run themselves to death chasing the does. Dunno how true it is but that was how it was explained to me. 🤷‍♂️

Wouldn't put much stock in that. A friend picked up about 30 deer from peoples yards (not car kills) and said maybe 10 of 30 were bucks.

I actually think, the bigger bucks had a better chance of survival, because they tend to keep away from the rest of the herd. Social distancing.. I know one place, where the only deer to make it,was an old buck, but pretty much all the other deer in that section died.
