After I move end of the month I might have to give my spots for mushrooms and ramps to someone

I played around with transplanting ramps last season w/o a lot of expectations and much to my surprise they're coming up this season.

How much longer until you think we'll start seeing morels? Another two weeks?

Can never tell I didn’t find many until mid may last year only a couple earlier but should definitely check at least once every 3 or 4 days if we get rain

I think you need temps in the low 50,s for 4 or 5 nights in a row for the morels.

Greensider, the transplanting actually went really well.  I just found half a dozen more clusters I transplanted last year on my property in West Shokan.  I'm going to plant some more this year too with the hopes of eventually creating some nice patches.  Just like when you plant anything, I was really careful about trying to keep a nice dirt ball around the root (bulb) cluster and I think it helped.  I soaked them really well once in the ground at the new location as well.  I was skeptical at first, because all the leaves wilted and died off after the transplant, but was pleasantly surprised to see them all coming back up this year.  Good luck!

Thanks. That was my understanding as well, and I know folks are finding them mid-May around here pretty consistently. However, the one (and only) spot I know, I always find them the first week of turkey season and they're always too far past their prime to be worth harvesting. With the added free time right now I was hoping to get on them earlier this year when I can actually harvest some. I'm thinking I'll start checking around two weeks from now.
