Who gets the tag?

Maybe someone can shed some light on this...im sure the answer is in the book but i figured  id ask for a quick answer....if i give the meat from my deer away and i keep the cape, who keeps my tag?...does it stay with the cape?....or the meat?....my butcher usually takes the meat and he keeps the tag....i take a pic of the tag with my phone when i bring the cape to the taxidermist....so far ive never had an issue, but i would like to know for sure...thanks for any info

hand right out tag info to keep with other parts

As a 25 year taxidermist i dont need the tag but i do need the info from the tag and a picture will do..Tag always stays with the meat not the cape or head..

i always give the tag back to the customer after i take the info and tell him to keep it in the freezer with the meat.
